I'm so excited to share an incredible audio tour with you today. Created by our friends at CityListen, Walkin' Broadway is an extraordinary audio tour, packed with excellent information and exclusive interviews with wonderful actors, producers, and other Broadway luminaries.

* Stand outside the Imperial Theater and listen to legendary producer/director Hal Prince talk about his original staging of Fiddler on the Roof.
* Walk by the marquee of the Ambassor theater while James Naughton tells a memorable tale about the night Bill Clinton came to see Chicago.
* Hear the renowned actor and activist Ossie Davis talk about the role of the theater in the struggles for civil rights.

You'll hear exclusive interviews with actors and creators from shows like Hair, Godspell, A Chorus Line, Avenue Q, Oh Calcutta, Sweeney Todd, and more.

Additional guests include:

* Robert Lapone, cast member of the original A Chorus Line
* Stephen Schwartz, composer of Wicked, Pippin and Godspell
* John Raitt, star of the original Carousel
* Mary Rodgers, daughter of Richard Rodgers
* John Rubinstein, star of Pippin
* Lorraine Hansberry, writer of A Raisin in the Sun

This tour is hosted by Peabody Award winning broadcaster and producer Elliott Forrest. He can now be heard on 105.9FM WQXR, the classical music station of New York City, and he is the national radio host of the syndicated concerts from The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, The Seattle Symphony and The Jerusalem Symphony. An Emmy nominated television personality, Elliott's work has included the long-running Breakfast with the Arts and Biography this Week on A&E Television, in addition to extensive work with PBS, CNN and HBO. Elliott is the Artistic Director of the new Riverspace Arts in Nyack, and he has produced and directed numerous plays, musicals, events, radio series and television programs.  And, of course, Elliott is a lifelong fan of Broadway.

When you download this MP3 Audio Tour, and head out, you will explore Broadway with a variety of theater people!

You'll learn theater history with Broadway Historian Miles Kruger, exploring the oldest theater in Times Square, now called the New Victory Theater. You'll also learn about the old New York Times Tower - where the ball drops on New Year's Eve! With audio clips and stories of history (and New York), this section is a great lesson in history.

Remember Sardi's? It's the restaurant of choice for theater - you'll learn the history (and I remember the Sardi's scene in "The Producers" - ha!). Did you know that Sardi's has a half-price actor's menu?

You'll listen to Stephen Schwartz, the composer of Wicked, Godspell, and Pippin - and learn the origins and history of Godspell.

It was fascinating, hearing from long time press agent Harvey Sabinson talking about how the Cafe Edison got its nickname, and Peter Shickele talking about Oh Calcutta and nudity in the 1960s!

Other guest appearances include Barry Grove, Tom O'Horgan (Hair), Rick Lyons (Avenue Q), Mary Rodgers sharing about the Richard Rodgers theater and her father, Alexander Bernstein (West Side Story), Kitty Carlisle Hart on Julie Andrews (My Fair Lady), and Ossie Davis (Purlie).

Whether you are already IN New York, or planning a visit, this would be an excellent way to learn more about the history of Broadway. The audio tour lasts just under an hour, and allot 1.5 hours for the tour.

What I loved about Walkin' Broadway was the instant connection I made to New York theater, with the sights, sounds, and voices of history. From learning about the buildings to hearing the inside scoop from legendary theater people, I feel so very happy to have had this chance to explore Broadway with the best!
