Oz with Orchestra: The Wizard of Oz

Positioned directly under a movie theater-size screen, The Florida Orchestra will perform the Oscar award- winning score to the 1939 film classic The Wizard of Oz. In this special edition re-mastered version of the MGM film, the musical soundtrack was digitally removed to allow the orchestra to accompany the original dialog and songs of Dorothy, the Tin Man, Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion on their fairytale journey to the fabled Emerald City.

Spring Events Florida Orchestra

 

Student Tickets: Students, teachers and education staff
members may purchase individual $10 tickets with a valid school I.D. to
most Florida Orchestra concerts, subject to availability. Limit two
tickets per concert. Some restrictions may apply. Tickets may be
purchased in advance exclusively through The Florida Orchestra Ticket
Center, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, at 244 2nd Avenue North,
St. Petersburg, FL 33701. Tickets may also be purchased in person on
concert nights1-1/2 hours prior to curtain at the given concert hall.

Musicians in the Schools: The Musicians in the Schools
program offers orchestra musicians the opportunity to support high
school orchestra and band programs in Pinellas and Hillsborough County
schools by working as sectional coaches, providing private instruction
or conducting rehearsals depending on the director's need request.

Instrument Petting Zoo/Magical Music Box: This popular
activity is a project of The Florida Orchestra Tampa Guild and features
a collection of musical instruments that children can touch, blow,
pluck, and strike. Strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion instruments
are all included in the Magical Music Box.

Young Artists Competition: The Florida Orchestra Young
Artists Competition recognizes extraordinary young talent in the
greater Tampa Bay area. The competition is open to students up to the
age of 22, with senior (16-22) and junior (15 and younger) divisions.
Free Youth Concerts: These specially designed 50-minute concerts are
targeted at fourth and fifth graders and are presented during the
school day at one of the major concert halls in the area. Each year
over 30,000 fourth and fifth grade students from Hillsborough and
Pinellas counties attend one of the orchestra’s youth concerts. These
concerts are open to all public and private schools, home schools, and
exceptional centers.
