The Museum of Florida Art is pleased to host the fourth annual Legendary Florida Lecture Series.
Through this lecture series, Florida history scholars will provide historical perspectives about the events and personalities depicted in the Legendary Florida collection. Jackson Walker will also share insights into his creative process related to visiting scholar topics.
Join us for a rich dialogue about Florida history as brought to life through the art of Jackson Walker.
All lectures will feature commentary by Legendary Florida artist, Jackson Walker and will be presented at the Volusia County Historic Courthouse in
at 125 W. Indiana Ave., DeLand, Fl.

LT. COL. Gregory A. Moore; Floridas Army - Wed., Feb.11, 7pm & Thurs.,Feb. 12 - 10am
Army Veteran, Florida National Guard Command Historian and West Point Graduate, Gregory A. Moore will highlight the many roles that the Florida
Militias and Guardsmen, from the earliest Spanish in 1565 to the present,have played in American history.
Jackson Walker; The Forlorn Hope - Wed., Feb. 18 - 7pm & Thurs.,Feb. 19- 10am
Historical painter and storyteller, Jackson Walker will present a dramatic telling of the story of Major Francis Dades epic battle that began the Second war with the Seminoles in 1835.
The Art of Chrome & Leather VI
start Bike Week in style with the Museum of Florida Art as they present their 6th Annual Art of Chrome & Leather, featuring Art on the Road of Good and Evil, a motorcycle as art exhibit curated by Josh Garrick of Millenia Fine Art in Orlando in association with renowned motorcycle artist, Chris Cruz.
The Art on the Road of Good and Evil exhibit, which runs from February 27 through March 22, 2009, will feature visual, interactive, performance and
conceptual art.
Featured artists will include: Jacob Cordell, Doug Rhodehamel, Clifton Chandler, Bonnie Gillenwater, Perego, Donna Frank, Scharf, Glennis Siverson, Keith Theriot, Liz Kitchens, Lon Pettit, Joanne Mulrain, Ben Ohrman, Rick Abrams, Dan Colonna, David Langley, Andrew White, Barbara Perrotti, Brigan Gresh, Dawn Rosendahl, Cheryl Turner, Tony Blankenship, Toni Taylor, Russ Muller, Roland Pasqual, Robin Maria Pedrero, Kenneth Balser, John Wilton, Winnie Gustafson, Eliz. St. Hilaire Nelson,and Beryl Bayer. There will also be a showcase of some of the countrys top bike builders painted by Floridas airbrush wizard Chris Cruz.
Exhibit curator Josh Garrick says, The extraordinary variety of the works to be shown at the Museum truly represent our countrys fascination with life on the road. I asked the artists to have fun with the project and have included everything from whimsy to that which is deeply personal. With the over-riding idea that this exhibit should be fun to visit, viewers and families will find a surprise at every turn in the show.
The Art of Chrome & Leather VI Bash will feature art by Perego, including an action mural painting and an organic light show with live models. The bash
will be a memorable evening featuring live rock music with the band Running With Scissors, biker fashion, food and a cash bar in addition to an exciting
live auction. Participants are encouraged to wear their best biker gear. Prizes will be awarded for Best Dressed.
The Celebrity Ride will begin at the Museum of Florida Art and end at the Daytona Beach Kennel Club with a post-ride party featuring live music from
the band Small Potatoes. Participating local and national celebrities include Dan Haggerty, best known for his role as Grizzly Adams, Carl Morrow, a world land-speed record holder who has been seen on such shows as Monster Garage, and Doug Morrow, who continues to race and break land-speed records.
As an artist, a father, and a supporter of youth programs nationwide, I stand behind the Museum in its promotion of Art For Kids through classes, camps and tours, said Haggerty. I was very excited to learn about The Art of Chrome & Leather, as it combines my passions for the arts, motorcycles and my support of childrens programs, especially for our underserved and at-risk youth.
Tickets are available from the Museum of Florida Art. Bash tickets are $35 per person. Ride tickets are $15 for general admission, which includes the post-ride party, or $30 for VIP tickets, which allows you to ride up front with the celebrities. Bundle tickets are available at $50, which includes the Friday evening bash and a Sunday VIP ticket.

MoFA Classes and Workshops
If watercolor is your passion then register for Lynn Ferriss Light and
Shadow Watercolor Workshop Feb. 21, Saturday 10 am -3:30 pm. Tuition: $60 members/$70 non members. Last day to register, Feb. 13.
Materials list will be provided. Using only three colors of paint, this workshop will focus on understanding light sources, the shadows they create
and the effect this has on the composition and outcome of your painting.
Lynns limited edition prints have been featured nationally, and she has shown her work extensively and received many awards including the "Susan
Lattner Lloyd Gold Award"(Best of Show) at the 2007 Florida Watercolor Society annual exhibit, and the "Societies" award at this year's exhibit.

Loosening Up With Mixed Media Workshop Feb. 28 Mar. 1, Saturday & Sunday 9 am 4 pm is the perfect gift. Tuition: $150 members/$160 non members.
Last day to register, Feb. 20. Materials list will be provided. Instructor will provide some materials.
Learn to loosen up your approach to painting by experimenting with acrylics and other mediums and incorporating textures and layering to create rich
and original works of art. This workshop is suitable for beginner and intermediate students. Pat, a former attorney and self-taught artist has earned numerous awards and prizes for her artwork over the past few years.
