Take in award-winning Panama City Beach, Fla.’s signature fall festival—the Panama City Beach Seafood, Wine & Music Festival—this Columbus Day Weekend, October 9 – 11, 2009.

For the past thirty years, this family-friendly event has drawn visitors from all over the region and beyond, quickly earning the designation as Panama City Beach’s premiere fall event.  This year’s festivities will feature a wonderful array of local seafood dishes prepared by the region’s most celebrated chefs, international wine tastings, handmade arts and crafts, headlining entertainment, a classic car show “sneak peek” and other activities for the whole family. Live nightly musical performances will feature “Dancing with the Stars’” Julianne Hough, the legendary Styx, Grand Funk Railroad and John Anderson as well as local and regional favorites.

The following event highlights are sure to please food, wine and music lovers alike.

CELEBRITY CHEF EXIBITIONS - The festival offers three full-bodied days of dining, wining, and socializing.  Celebrate a wonderful array of seafood such as shrimp, grouper, scallops, crab and more. Local and area celebrity chefs from some of Panama City Beach’s most legendary restaurants including Breakers, Saltwater Grill, Firefly, Hammerhead Fred's, Boatyard and more will perform special exhibitions, in addition to the wonderful array of dishes available from other various vendors.

WINES FROM LOCAL AND NATIONALLY ACCLAIMED VINEYARDS -Choose from a selection of several local, domestic and international wines to complement your fresh seafood dishes. The festival has teamed up with Florida's own Republic National Distributing as their exclusive wine partner. They will host rare wine auctions, present celebrity winemakers and top vineyards, offer generous wine tastings and more.

MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT
– The sounds of local and area jazz, rock and country bands will fill the air, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights will be capped off with headliner entertainment that is bigger and better than ever. On Friday night, Florida's own country legend John Anderson will appear with special guest Julianne Hough, the ACM New Country Artist of the Year.  Plus, Styx, one of the top rock bands of all time, will also hit the stage Saturday, Oct. 10.  Then, on Sunday, Oct. 11, Grand Funk Railroad will round out the performances, celebrating 40 years of rock.

FAMILY FUN – Saturday and Sunday will offer a special focus on the family. Kids can do lunch with Spongebob Squarepants; bounce around in the Bouncer Village, offering a number of larger-than-life, bouncy experiences for kids; and then have pictures taken of their face-painted grins, alongside their favorite Nickelodeon characters.  Kids can also rock out to their own special concerts, watch the twists and tumbles of Gallagher's Gymnastics Team and partake in other kid-friendly experiences, such as Creole For Kids with Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience, Steve's Kazoo Crew Band.

ARTS AND CRAFTS - The festival will feature select arts and crafts vendors, retail vendors, antique dealers and various community charities. Start your holiday shopping early with one-of-a-kind specialty jewelry, woodcrafts, wine racks, stained glass, ceramics, quilts, folk art and more. Pottery and glass art demonstrations will also be part of the fun.

I can't eat shellfish but this sounds like a fun time. Styx! I don't know if I'd call them the greatest rock band of all time but hearing them would bring back memories.
