Foodie Finds: Bavarian Inn Restaurant in Frankenmuth, Michigan

When we were visiting Frankenmuth this past month, we HAD to dine at the Bavarian Inn Restaurant! World-famous for their Bavarian cuisine, this restaurant is a landmark. Founded by the Zehnder family (who immigrated from Bavaria in 1846), the (Dorothy) Zehnder family is involved in every aspect of the Bavarian Inn Restaurant.

Dinners are served individually or family-style. I had the famous golden chicken lunch, which was delicious. Ed had the Rouladen and loved it.  The dinner includes delicious bread (stollen and white) with fresh fruit preserves; dressing and mashed potatoes (or these super yummy potato cheese puffs); spaetzle; homemade ice cream, and more.

The walls are painted with murals from Grimm's fairy tales, and the waitstaff are costumed in old German dress. It's a trip back in time!
