Job Posting: Assistant Director, Study Abroad, University of South Carolina

The University of South Carolina is currently seeking candidates for an Assistant Director, Study Abroad.

The Assistant Director is a professional position in the Study Abroad
Office of International Programs.  The Assistant Director performs a
variety of duties in support of the development of faculty-led programs
beginning with the concept stage and continuing through program
implementation and evaluation.  As a staff member in a multi-function
office, position also includes student advising, supervision of student
workers, and additional responsibilities as assigned.  For more

Essential Job Functions:

Assists Director with program development and oversight including:
soliciting and approving faculty-led program proposals; working with
faculty leaders to establish program objectives, framework, budgets,
and itineraries; assisting with program marketing and student
recruitment; and developing, implementing and reporting findings of
program assessment.

Acts as the primary liaison between the Study Abroad Office &
faculty, communicating program policies, deadlines, etc.  In
consultation with the Director, provides issue resolution for unique
situations encountered.

Conducts workshops & training for faculty and program assistants
engaged in leading programs abroad.  Conducts pre-departure orientation
for students participating in faculty-led programs; advises USC
students participating in faculty led programs as needed; coordinates
pre-departure activities with faculty leaders and students.

Hires, trains and supervises peer advising staff as well as additional
student worker staff, student volunteers, graduate interns, etc.

Provides administrative support to special populations and programs as assigned.  Additional projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Masters degree; minimum of three years of experience in the study
abroad field; general knowledge of the program development and
implementation process; ability to interact with faculty in a highly
professional manner; attention to detail; ability to follow projects
through to completion; experience studying, working or living abroad.
Preferred Qualifications:  Masters degree in higher education,
international education, or related field; experience leading student
groups abroad.
