About interstudy

interstudy (www.interstudy.org) is a small, private education abroad
organization founded in 1980. With offices in the UK and South Africa
and its main office in Medford, Massachusetts, interstudy offers North
American undergraduate short-term, semester and full-year education
abroad programs in Botswana, Britain, Republic of Ireland and South
Africa.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Assist the Director of Programs in the administration of the office
and work with students and staff to enhance and promote education
abroad opportunities in Botswana, Britain, Republic of Ireland, and
South Africa. In collaboration with the Director and other interstudy
staff, the Assistant Director develops marketing and recruitment
strategies, implements procedures to reach enrollment goals, and
maintain and builds relationships with U.S. institutions. The
Assistant Director also markets and promotes all twenty-four
interstudy programs, manages office web site content, and establishes
office procedures and processes. This position also represents the
Director when required.

1. Outreach. Plan, organize, and attend recruiting events,
orientations, professional meetings and other activities at partner
institutions. Advise prospective students on campuses, promote
interstudy, maintain strong relations with students/ alumni/ faculty/
administrators on campuses, follow up, and report on activities and
opportunities. Communicate with home institutions on in-country
student and program issues. Administer various aspects of marketing
and student services projects. Develop marketing and recruitment
strategies, implement procedures to reach enrollment goals. Maintain
and build relationships with U.S. institutions. Coordinate and direct
collaboration of interstudy outreach activities. (40%)

2. Promotion. Maintain, develop and design content of various external
communications: student newsletters, web advertisements, pre-departure
materials, and marketing materials. Maintain website content relevant
to outreach and promotion. Market and promote all twenty-four
interstudy programs. Arrange and lead faculty and staff site visits to
international sites. (30%)

3. Student Services. Advise prospective and new student participants
and assist students in various aspects of inquiry, application and
registration processes. Maintain a database of student inquiries, with
regular follow-ups to encourage application submission. (20%)

4. Other duties as assigned. Develop and coordinate other special
projects and programs related to education abroad. Perform office
functions including answering phones, email and sending student
packages/other mailings when needed. Some international travel.
Represent the Director, as needed. (10%)

This position reports to the Director and supervises one professional
staff person.

Required Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree

-Minimum of 3 years of experience in a marketing, communication or
education abroad capacity

-Prior work and/or education abroad experience

Preferred Qualifications:

-Advanced degree in related field. Bachelor’s degree in marketing or
communications related field

-Experience working in education abroad or international education

-Understanding of the field of international education and current
trends in education abroad

-Knowledge of European and/or African culture

-Customer or student-service experience

-Experience working with databases and design and layout
(publications) software

-Experience in Macintosh environment

Salary starting at 35K depending on qualifications; includes full
medical benefits for the individual. The position is located in the
Medford, Massachusetts office. This position requires a minimum of 6
weeks of domestic travel per academic semester. 401K, Long/Short Term
