UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN
Universidad Espiritu Santo, Samborondon, Ecuador

The Universidad Espiritu Santo (UEES), a private, secular institution
ranked as one of the best universities in Ecuador, is located across
the river from Guayaquil, Ecuador.  The UEES seeks an experienced
library administrator to serve as University Librarian (UL). Reporting
directly to the Executive Vice President and Provost, the UL oversees
all library operations.

Just 17 years old, UEES provides around 4,000 national and
international students with a high-quality academic experience.  The
university includes ten Colleges:  Liberal Arts, Architecture and
Civil Engineering, Economics and Business Administration, Law,
Medicine, International Studies, Communications, Graduate Studies,
Tourism and Culinary Arts, and Systems and Electronics.

The UEES library is just beginning.   As is typical of a private
university library in a developing country, the library collection is
quite small and more the result of random donations than professional
planning or science. Nonetheless, the library is a high priority for
the university and is in the final phase of a major remodeling and
expansion.

The successful candidate will take the University Library into the
First World.

This position requires:
* An experienced, bilingual (Spanish and English) library
administrator, able to construct a new mission and vision for the
library;
* A demonstrated ability to manage and develop resources;
* An understanding of the direction of technology
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
* A Masters of Science in Library and Information Science.

For more information about UEES, please see www.uees.edu.ec.

All correspondence should be e-mailed to the attention of Steven Wille
at swille[at]uees.ecu.ec.  Applications should include a letter of
interest, CV, and a list of references. All correspondence will be
held in confidence.
