PROGRAM MANAGER

The Program Manager (PM) provides vital administrative support to the
Office of Off-Campus Study & Exchanges and its Director. The PM manages
a portfolio of Skidmore programs in Asia and all Skidmore short-term,
faculty-led programs. In managing these programs, the PM is given
authority over all operational aspects of the programs and is expected
to make recommendations to the Director of OCSE regarding growth and
program development. The PM is also charged with managing OCSE's
outreach and programming efforts (including predeparture and reentry
efforts, international education week, and study abroad fairs), which
directly support the institutional goals of enhanced curricular
integration of off-campus study and of enhanced intercultural
competence. The PM is expected to be self-directed and to work directly
with various academic and student affairs units to achieve this goal, as
well as outside constituents (parents, international and national
partners, etc.). This work calls for the PM to think creatively and to
develop innovative programming to reach new audiences. The PM also
advises on all non-Skidmore approved programs (international and
domestic). Finally, the PM supports web site maintenance. The Program
Manager works very independently and reports directly to the Director.

Qualifications:

* BA in related field with minimum three years of professional
experience in international education. MA preferred.
* Demonstrated strengths in administration in the field of
international education/study abroad required. Administration of
short-term programs strongly preferred.
* Proven ability to work effectively and cooperatively with college
students, faculty, staff and parents.
* Excellent organizational and writing skills required. Strong oral and
written communication skills and superb presentation skills necessary.
* Broad familiarity with popular administrative computer applications,
including those that support web design and maintenance.
* Ability to work effectively in intercultural situations and in
dynamic, fast-paced atmosphere in which expectations are high. Must be
able to handle multiple and complex responsibilities with grace and a
good sense of humor.
* Study abroad experience or significant travel/work abroad outside of
Western Europe required.
* Knowledge of a foreign language highly desirable.
* Should be self-directed, energetic, flexible, attentive to detail,
and extremely well-organized and hard working.
* Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally.

Salary: $39,000-$44,0000

Note: OCSE plays a critical role in the academic and strategic mission
and goals of the College. The members of our team are very visible on
campus. Approximately 60% of our students study abroad before
graduating. Essentially, OCSE is a mini-college dealing with academic
concerns, registrations and transcripts, applications and admissions
decisions, financial structures, student, parent and faculty advising,
social and disciplinary issues, etc. We are involved in virtually every
aspect of the College: issues of academic program development and
implementation; questions of implementing the strategic plan (Goal II);
College-wide enrollment management conversations; evaluating certain
academic standards; and responding to student affairs issues. All of
this involves dealing with constituents across the College at all levels
and with constituents literally across the globe. This reality creates
numerous complexities and challenges for the PM, all of which need to be
considered when looking at his/her role in the office.
