World Endeavors Announces Thailand Scholarship Contest Winner
World Endeavors is pleased to announce that the full scholarship for a 4-week volunteer trip to Thailand has been awarded to Tom Mitchell! Based upon his essay response and all of the support it garnered, Tom beat out over 100 competitors and is currently teaching English in the Thai village of Wat Tan.
Already fully immersed into the Thai culture, Tom spends his days providing invaluable support and education to his school and his free time getting to know the villagers, customs and traditions of his new home! He hopes to spend much of his free time traveling throughout Thailand and especially nearby Bangkok where he can experience the famous JJ Weekend market! World Endeavors invites you to follow along with Tom through his video blog as he documents his travels and adventures! While you are there be sure to check out the videos from other participants’ journeys abroad!
Tom is currently a junior at the University of Minnesota where he is studying Human Resource Development, Youth Studies, and Educational Psychology along with a minor in Chinese. He hopes someday to direct a youth-leadership organization and possibly be involved with educational administration. Tom is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity and also works for Viva Musica, a local non-profit aimed at aiding K-12 arts and music education programs.
