We were a small party of complete strangers. Margaret and I are both in our sixties; Olaf, a septuagenarian from Finland had just arrived in Australia; and Russell an experienced cameleer, author and adventurer led the trek.

Queensland – beautiful one day, perfect the next

With a BIG walk across the Spanish sierra on my May travel agenda, I thought it fitting to write about one of the most beautiful resort hotels in Spain, after all, I might need some pampering and R & R at the end of the Camino Santiago, an ancient 800km pilgrimage trail originating in France and ending in Santiago de Compostela in the Spanish north-west.

Most travellers don’t need much of an excuse to visit Ireland, but those who do could possibly use Celtic history and the Irish culture, tracing the family tree, the fine crystal, the rolling green countryside, horseracing, Gaelic football, Irish pubs or folk dancing, literature, art or music.
