There is one thing I must say: traveling families are awesome. I define traveling families as families (at least one parent and one kid) who currently do not live in a stationary house. They do this because they can, not because they have to. It is something they, and we, love to do.

Here are five facts about traveling families.

Picture the Sonoran Desert. Beautiful landscape filled with cacti: yellow cholla, green saguaros, small hedgehog and pincushion, and even the non-cacti plants: brilliant red ocotillo, dense green ironwood, with mountains in the distance.

Ever since I was a little kid, I have been fascinated by fountains. I love the way they make me feel connected with the water. I love all kinds of fountains - big fountains, little fountains, garden fountains, credenza fountains. Even as I have grown older, I still feel like I could watch fountains forever. Eventually, I began to take pictures of them.

After staying in Michigan for the summer, just moving one hour every other week or so, my family was ready to move on... until we heard that our very good friends, the Keiters, were heading our direction.

Holland, Michigan is a destination place. Most tourists come when the famous Tulip Time Festival is going on - browsing through the shops, seeing the parade, eating junk food. It’s what Holland is known for.
    

But what is there to see when Tulip Time isn’t happening? Lots.

I love writing. In 2010, my dad told me about a website called Storybird. It is a website where people from all around the world connect to write. I made friends with a lot of the users, but one that really stuck out to me was Deepfried_freak. She was different from the rest.

Ever since I saw a blue poison dart frog on the cover of my Ranger Rick magazine, I knew I was hooked on the animals. I was young and didn’t have a favorite color, so I just mashed them all together in my dreams. And my dreams came to life in the magazine, except the mashed up colors came out in the shape of frogs.

“Come with me,” Peter Pan invited, stretching out his hand. Without hesitation, I abandoned my pen, leaving on the desk as I threaded my hand around Peter’s. He smiled, gave a little jerk, and we went flying over my house, straight toward the North Star.

My grandma’s name is Jackie Austin. She loves quilting and is very involved in all of her grandkids’ activities. She has traveled to hundreds of amazing places in her lifetime. Intrigued by her knowledge of international travel, I interviewed her.

It was a long way down. I could tell that just by looking down the long staircase. I couldn’t believe that this was the second time I had been to Carlsbad Caverns. It felt like I had never been here before.
