My husband, Ed, has a great story of his scariest trip ever. When he was in high school, he, his mother, and other family friends took a cruise to Bermuda and Nassau, on the SS Rotterdam.

Japanese Recipe: Dango San Kyodai (and song!)

I LOVE Japanese food. One of my favorite party foods is a yummy rice-ball confection called Dango.  We found a recipe for kushidango online, and adapted it.  These are fantastic rice balls (mochi) that are steamed and grilled - with a sauce. I remember eating them at festivals I went to, in Japan. They are really easy to make, and quite elicious - here's the recipe:

 

KushiDango - Japanese Rice Balls

mix up and then form into 18 balls:

1 1/3 c glutinous rice flour
3/4 c warm water

When I was in graduate school, one of my fellow students was from Morocco. He was so courtly in his manners, so intelligent, and had such good food at his gatherings that I was very impressed with his cultural background. However, I haven't been to North Africa yet.
