The Northern Ireland sun struggled to penetrate through the clouds, stopping just short of the rusty bus with a sigh of regret, as though too tired to continue any farther. As the vehicle made its way down the dirt path, I clung to my seat with one hand, the other holding a book, trying to ignore the bumping and rattling. A visit with an oracle of the elven king, on the Giant's Causeway, Northern Ireland

The workshops continued today with Nigerian school teachers, who learned the manuscript process of the Comic Book Project. They planned stories for a three-page comic book, with a focus on character and plot development. It was very interesting to see the kinds of stories that the teachers crafted.

Aside from some excess baggage fees, my flight from Lagos to Enugu was smooth and comfortable. My new good friend Obiajulu Emejulu met me at the airport with a university car and driver for the 45 minute-trip to Nsukka, where I will be staying for the duration of my trip.

I made it to Nigeria! It was no small feat. The adventure began the day before I was supposed to leave when I badly chipped my front tooth on a hard cracker. Thank you to Dr. Gregory Mark and his team for seeing me late on a Friday afternoon and fixing me up.

Known as Australia’s River City, Brisbane is a remarkable place to visit. Home to almost 2 million people, it’s one of the coolest places to explore in Australia (despite being a subtropical locale). Filled with arts, culture, great food, and more, Brisbane is the capital of Queensland and deserves such a crown.

I have wanted to travel abroad for as long as I can remember. The promise of stepping off the transport, being thrust into a new culture with different rules (written and unwritten) and different ways of life excites. Travelling around the US has given me some experience, but I can’t just jump into traveling abroad and expect to know everything. 

Belgium sneaks up on you. One moment you are in France, and the next it is like you are still in France because all the signs are still in French, but um, you are not. And if you check the flag and make sure the stripes are vertical, well you know you are not in Germany.
