Dog Meets World Foto of the Week: A South African Class

by Carolyn Lane / Jun 23, 2010 / 0 comments

Last year I (Dog Meets World founder, Carolyn Lane) visited with founders of Affordable Medicine for Africa (AMFA) in Kuilsrivier, near Cape Town, South Africa.

While dining at the beautiful Zevenwacht Winery, I was told that the company provided a free preschool (termed Creche in South Africa) for the children of the vineyard workers. I asked that I might stop by. The teachers told me that the children had never had their pictures taken. The idea of annual school pictures is not the norm in many parts of the world. What a treat to take individual pictures of each of the children in the pretty outdoor setting. I set up the printer and to their total amazement, developed their pictures on the spot. The teachers assured me their parents would be thrilled and thanked me repeatedly for bringing Dog Meets World to their classroom.

Boys will be boys! Note the wine barrels used as the room divider. The boys were ecstatic and ran around holding their first pictures. In the top photo, little impish Paul couldn’t stop staring at his image with delight. You too can bring a "Foto" dog and a printer and make a difference in the life of a child in a super fun way. When traveling look for opportunities to visit schools and interact with children around the globe!
