There is one more week to experience the weird and wonderful Festival of Plays and Musicals called FRINGE and the 100 performance groups of Fringe 2015. The oldest, non-juried Fringe Fest in the United States, the Orlando International Fringe Festival’s ‘philosophy’ is to be 100% uncensored, 100% non-juried, and 100% accessible. Since 1953, folk artists have come together for the Florida Folk Festival, a celebration of the music, dance, stories, crafts and food that make Florida unique. May 22 to 24 – The Jacksonville Jazz Festival

Known internationally as ‘The tINmAN,’ Charlie Lucas creates his art from materials that others have discarded. Lucas sees each creation as the result of ‘intense communion’ with his heritage, race, and life-choices. An artist in residence at several schools and universities, Lucas will open an exhibit of his work on May 22 at 6 pm at Jeanine Taylor Folk Art in Sanford and then share his art and story-telling in an Artist’s Talk on May 23 beginning at 10:30 am. May 27 – Chefs Night with Kevin Fonzo at Second Harvest Food Bank

As if providing 70,000 meals EACH DAY is not enough, the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida has created its Chef’s Night Series of fund-raising dinners created by renowned chefs in Second Harvest’s Kitchen. Celebrating great food and raising money for the Second Harvest’s Culinary Training Program, the 14-week program provides free kitchen training and employability skills for the formerly unemployed.
