New Jersey is most notable for Jersey City and the great boardwalk, beaches, and all around good time for people of any age. But about half an hour past Jersey City, you reach Wildwood, NJ. As if the great name of the city isn’t good enough, the place is reminiscent of Jersey Shore - but unlike it, the food is what stands out the most. While on the boardwalk, from left to right all you can see are local quick bites, restaurants, and bars; each with something different to offer. On the boardwalk, after you pass the only go-carts, stands the Lobster Shack.

Positioned right in front of the beach, this great restaurant offers great views as well as cool and shaded places to eat. At first glance while waiting in line, I noticed that everything was organized. The waiters each had their own sections to monitor, and at the front there was a head waitress to make sure each waiter was doing his/her job correctly as well as to call each waiter up to lead the guests to their respective seats. In total, it took about 5 minutes to be seated.

As far as the service goes, everything was smooth. The menus are handed out as soon as you sit down and the drink orders are also taken. The menu had a lot of variety; there was fresh seafood such as lobster and crab, there was good old-fashioned American food such as steak and chicken tenders, along with the bar and southern appetizers. I ordered the crab-cake sandwich. Although the food is served with cheap plastic plates and utensils, the food was delicious. The sandwich was succulent, and the breading on it was just right to give it a bit of a crunch to soak in all the juices and still not be too hard to bite into. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh as well as the homemade tartar sauce. The bread was also toasted to perfection. The meal was great.

This restaurant gives you this great experience for only about 10-15 dollars a meal which is good considering free refills, fresh seafood, and homemade sauces. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. The area is great, and you can take the whole family as well. The only considerable downside is that the location is a bit old and is not considered high-tech. But then again if you consider the area or technology of a restaurant to count more than the food, then this is not the place for you. But if you consider a restaurant to be about the food more than anything, then the Lobster Shack is definitely the place to be.

P.S.  When you’re done eating, you can always go to the beach, get a tan, or just relax in the cool water.
