DOGS ON SHOW AT HOLYROOD PARK

Historic Scotland’s rangers are inviting locals to come along to the annual Holyrood Park Fun Dog Show.

Taking place on Sunday 9th August this fun-packed day will feature games and competitions for all dog lovers.

There will be the chance to enter pets into classes including ‘Waggiest Tail’, ‘Best Junior Handler’, ‘Best Trick’ . There will also be a fun agility class with a rosette for every one who enters.

This year the Ranger Service will be hosting an artificial lure coursing competition with whippets and Scottish deerhounds.

This is taking place on the playing fields beside the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

The PDSA animal veterinary charity will be attending with their mobile unit providing free health checks for dogs.

Gracehounds, a Midlothian-based greyhound re-homing charity will be there providing information on their work.

Nicky Pettigrew

“There are classes that puppies and older dogs can join in, so everyone can get involved. It’s a nice reminder too that Holyrood Park is a fantastic space for walks, with nature and history all rolled into one.”

There are fun show classes from 10.45am to 1.30pm. The fun agility starts at 12.30pm to 2.30pm.  Entry to all classes is free.

The artificial lure coursing competition will be running from 9.30am to 5pm.
