Deconstructing Perestroika is the first major exhibition in the United States of hand-painted Soviet-era political posters created in the years leading up to the superpower’s demise. Ironic and caustic, these posters deal openly with the failure of Soviet ideology by combining the Russian avtorskii plakat tradition of hand-painted poster design with Soviet propaganda art. This exhibition has been curated by Dr. Ljiljana Grubisic, in collaboration with the Wende Museum and Archive of the Cold War.

This exhibition is sponsored in part by The Antonia and Vladimir Kulaev Cultural Heritage Fund.
