Belgium sneaks up on you. One moment you are in France, and the next it is like you are still in France because all the signs are still in French, but um, you are not. And if you check the flag and make sure the stripes are vertical, well you know you are not in Germany.
Ever since I saw a blue poison dart frog on the cover of my Ranger Rick magazine, I knew I was hooked on the animals. I was young and didn’t have a favorite color, so I just mashed them all together in my dreams. And my dreams came to life in the magazine, except the mashed up colors came out in the shape of frogs.
My name is Dr. Michael Bitz. I am the founder of the Comic Book Project (www.comicbookproject.org), where I help young people write, design, and publish original comic books as a pathway to literacy and creativity. I have travelled all over the world, and I have seen amazing places. I have also seen poverty and hunger, and it has made me realise that I want to help others when I grow up. In an interview with my friend Molly, she also mentioned that she wants to help children in Thailand when she is older.
Wind has always been my friend. On hot days it swoops in and cools me down, which makes the other people in my family unhappy because they love the heat; when I am kite surfing it usually is there to hold my kit up in the air, which helps me to move around.
My family and I have been traveling through the United States and Europe for the past six years. Through these travels, we have met all kinds of unique and interesting people. When I was eight years old, I met Zoe Evans. We became instant friends and she is one of the coolest people I know. She has become someone I can look up to, and I am truly inspired by her!
