Around the World: Educating Others About Life Abroad
Hello, we are a group of students from Coe College working together on a project with Wandering Educators. Our goal is to share multiple study abroad experiences while focusing on a specific aspect of each person’s abroad experience. The following articles focus on these topics that you may find interesting and important before you travel and study abroad, as well as give you a reason to give it a shot.
In “Navigating Cultural Journeys,” Gad Kanago tells the story of Victoria Amandia Nze and her time studying in France. During her stay, Victoria faced several challenges, including adjusting to different living spaces, getting used to smaller food portions, and overcoming language barriers.
Autumn Grzenia’s article, entitled “Navigating Culture Shock While Studying Abroad,” focuses on culture shock from Bridgette Abernathy, who studied in China and Vietnam for a summer. In this article, you’ll learn about the phenomenon of culture shock and why someone might experience such feelings. There are also tips and experiences shared regarding this student's experience at navigating culture shock.
The article “A Day in the Life Abroad in South Korea” by Lincoln Johnson focuses on what an average day in life abroad is like through an interview with a recent former study abroad student. Focusing more on the mundane parts of their international experience, it provides an interesting perspective on what most of the time in a foreign country is like for those interested in living abroad.
“Food and Culinary Experiences While in Germany” by Izzy Bethany covers the food and culinary experiences while studying abroad in Germany. In order to encourage future travelers to enjoy new dining experiences while studying abroad, she includes personal stories and guidance to a delicious culinary experience while in Germany.
