The University of Florida will be opening the position for "Director of Study
Abroad Services" later this spring, but we are planning to do some preliminary
interviews at NAFSA in Kansas City. A job description is listed below. If you

The successful candidate will be responsible for all day to day operations of
Study Abroad Services at UF:

-           Develops, recommends and implements policies and procedures in the
following areas:  program development, implementation and evaluation, marketing
and recruitment, risk management, student applications, budgetary and financial
processes; and customer service.

-           Oversees the use and implementation of study abroad software
program.

-           Oversees development and approves materials and information for
students, faculty, staff and parents; information sessions for prospective
students and faculty; pre-departure orientation and re-entry programs;
communication with faculty, staff and students throughout their study abroad
experience.

-           Facilitates the development of study abroad programs at UF's
overseas centers (Paris and Beijing).

-           Advises faculty program directors on policy, regulations and
procedures related to study abroad.  Coordinates the advising of undergraduate
and graduate students, faculty and staff regarding  UF academic regulations and
requirements as they pertain to study abroad. Works with Dean and Executive
Director in establishing policies for risk management and maintaining student
and faculty safety while abroad.

-           Minimum Qualifications: Masters Degree in a related field and a
minimum of two years of experience in a relevant university setting. Strong
communication and writing skills are a must.   Applicants should have
experience in working /studying /living abroad.  Supervisory experience
preferred; an ability to speak a second language is desirable.  Familiar with
current technology and able to utilize it to meet SAS objectives preferred.
