Study Abroad Advisor
Baltimore, Maryland

The Division of Academic Affairs at Towson University is currently seeking an Advisor for the Study Abroad Office.  The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting credit-bearing study abroad programs to students and faculty, advising and supporting students prior to, during and after their study abroad experience, and administering select TU study abroad programs for TU and non-TU students.

Primary Responsibilities:
*       Advise students on academic opportunities abroad and support students prior to, during and after their study abroad experience.
*       Administer TU programs and exchanges in assigned region(s).
*       Develop short-term TU faculty-led programs.
*       Promote TU study abroad program on campus and externally.
*       Assist with planning and implementing student and faculty orientation sessions.
*       Maintain student records.
*       Communicate with academic departments and administrative offices including Financial Aid, Bursar, and Registrar's Office.
*       Interact with domestic and foreign contacts.
*       Attend university events and make presentations on-campus.
*       Assist with developing and revising university policies and procedures.
*       Assist in the general operations of the Study Abroad Office.
*       Additional projects to contribute to the operations of the office according to candidate strengths and experience.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree plus one year related work experience including studying or working outside the U.S. Familiarity with study abroad program administration. Excellent communication, writing, and computer skills.  Master's degree in international education or related field, knowledge of one or more foreign languages, and higher education and/or marketing experience strongly preferred. Occasional nights and weekends for events and site visits. Domestic and international travel may be required. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.

Study Abroad Programs Assistant

The Division of Academic Affairs at Towson University is currently seeking a Programs Assistant to support the daily operations of the Study Abroad Office.  The Programs Assistant will promote study abroad opportunities to the TU community and provide initial student advising and administrative services.

Primary Responsibilities:
*       Provide general administrative support to the office.
*       Administer faculty-led short-term program application and admission process.
*       Facilitate student registration and billing for faculty-led programs.
*       Conduct preliminary student advising.
*       Assist with the international exchange program for incoming students.
*       Assist with updates and maintenance of the study abroad website.
*       Coordinate overseas medical insurance coverage for faculty and students.
*       Plan and implement the Study Abroad events, including the Study Abroad Fair and student orientations.
*       Coordinate study abroad alumni activities.
*       Attend university events and make presentations on campus.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree plus one year work experience including studying or working outside the U.S.  Excellent communication, administrative, and computer skills.  Knowledge of international program administration and some experience working with students in a university setting a plus.
