Q: Why does this book exist?

A: Because wherever I go I see our amazing world and I want to share that amazement with you.

Hello, my name is Jordan Oram and one of the jobs I have around here is being the Photography Editor. I have the enviable task of sorting through numerous talented candidates and selecting each month's Photographer of the Month. How do I qualify for this position? I know many great photographers, and am always finding more through the wonders of the internet, because I love our world, our creativity, our vision, and our expression. I also take some photos of my own from time to time, and teach some photography too. A camera is a gateway not just to a time, and a place, but to the person who took the photo.

With that in mind I'm delighted to present Volume Two of my Southern Vancouver Island: a rambling odyssey series as a free iBook.

Last year I borrowed a camera, rode two ferries, and a couple of buses, to Victoria, British Columbia. My photoadventuring colleague Karsten had a few days off and we decided to drive further out of the city, to climb hills before sunrise, to walk through primordial forests to beaches at the end of the world, and to delve into life through our lenses.

Volume two covers our exploration of Juan de Fuca Provincial Park's northern-most area around Botanical Beach, driving backroads, taking detours into forestry history along rivers and canyons, and finally summiting a mountain to go to sleep. Yes, there was a bear.

Those of you who enjoyed the first volume will be sure to delight in the second as well, and either of them stand alone individually.

Up next I'm working on the first of a series of iBooks covering the Cross-Canada trip of inspirational awesomeness that I'm currently embarked on. Beaches, mountains, forests, friends, creative and inspiring people rocking out their awesomeness… 6000km over 6 or more months? it's quite the trip.
