One of our newest travel guides partners is First Books, publishers of the Newcomer's Handbooks®.

First Books® is the premier publisher of relocation information in the USA. The bestselling Newcomer’s Handbook® series of guides covers most major US cities, as well as the USA, London and China. First Books also publishes books that help the youngest members of the family – preschoolers through middle schoolers – and even pets to successfully navigate the moving process.

Newcomer’s Handbooks are a terrific way to learn about your new city, prepare for a move, and settle in quickly and easily. With in-depth neighborhood and community profiles, as well as chapters on getting settled, helpful services, childcare and education, transportation, and more, Newcomer’s Handbooks are written for people who are moving, not just visiting a metro area, and have been called “invaluable” by Library Journal and “highly recommended” by the Chicago Tribune.  First Books is also the creator of www.newcomersweb.com, an online relocation information service.

We'll be reviewing all of the Newcomer's Handbooks over the next year - please check back for more information!

I imagine that one does not even have to be a newbie to benefit from these books. We loved Portland and have been toying with the idea of retiring there.
