Artist of the Month: Asun Parilla Castro

Andrea Hupke de Palacio's picture

I think that nobody can stay unmoved by Asun's Art. Her etchings, drawings paintings draw you into a dreamworld, where nature is untouched and innocent, mysterious and magical.

At the same time Asun's delicate paintings witness to the rigor, if not cruelty of nature. they testify that this is a "hard world for little things" ...

Whales in spraying waters, light flickering at the end of a path in the thick, dark forest. Magical full moons in nightblue skies. Tiny fragile insects flying through an air which seems to be made of even tinier little creatures.

Butterflies, feathers, houses and balloons. Aeroplanes fly through delicate handwriting. You have to look more than once to discover Asun's world.

I prefer  watercolors, pen, pencils. I like working with wood, for art prints. I love ink.
