Foodie Finds: McGanns, Doolin, Ireland

We had just gotten off the plane at Shannon Airport and driven to Doolin (to stay at the LOVELY Dubhlinn House B&B, more on that later). We took a nap, took an incredible boat ride to see the Cliffs of Moher, and then were starved. We asked our host for the best place to eat - one of the ones she recommended was McGann's, right there in Doolin.

We wandered in like the exhausted, jet-lagged travelers we were. We sat down at low tables, perused the menu, and then ordered at the bar. After a little bit (well spent studying the decor), our food arrived. BLISS. Ed got the Irish stew (yum). Lillie got the fish (yum). And I, unawares, ordered something that would change what I ate the rest of our time in Ireland - Seafood Chowder. Now, I've written a small ode to Seafood Chowder. Suffice to say, I LOVE IT. Lillie ate half of mine. It's what we ordered at every other restaurant we tried.

But this seafood chowder? It was the gold standard. It set the bar. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
