Maasai International Challenge Africa (MICA) is a non-profit organization based in Arusha, Tanzania and run by volunteers spread around the world. MICA coordinates placement of international volunteers committed to social justice who seek to learn and contribute by working as part of community initiated projects in developing countries.

MICA specializes in offering overseas volunteers internship placements and also facilitates opportunities for individuals, students, groups, and Gap year Students. We also offer adventure holiday tours, Wildlife programs, language and cultural experience programs, and other programs such as Swahili Language Study Abroad.

The program features a month long orientation, including intensive language study, followed by volunteer placement. In return for hosting these international volunteers, the host organization receives donations from the volunteers. The projects are hosted by local organization in Africa and in Asia only.

Each year we place over 500 people into our programs abroad and have a wide range of volunteer travel opportunities, in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, Ghana, India, Nepal, Philippines, Malawi, Bolivia, Sri Lanka, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Peru – Cusco, Peru – Lima, and Thailand.

Maasai international Challenge Africa aims to offer affordable and high quality volunteer abroad and internship abroad programs. In collaboration with local organizations & International organizations our volunteer abroad programs focus on working in orphanages, teaching English in Primary and Secondary schools and other lessons, health projects, research, internship, and conservation efforts.
