There's nothing like a good road trip, and one in Scotland is even better! If you're going to Scotland, here's a list of my mom and dad's 7 favorite places to eat in Scotland.

1. Loch Fyne Oysters
Loch Fyne, Cairndow; 01499 600 236

This is a very quaint and wonderful restaurant, with a lovely gift shop. Fantastic oysters!

2. Mussel Inn
61-65 Rose Street, Edinburgh; 0131 225 5979

You sit outside and people watch...and then, you're served this a kilo of steamed mussels, in a pail, fixed in a variety of ways. There's wonderful crusty french bread to sop up the juices..These were the most delicious mussels I've ever had.

3. Clive Ramsay
Henderson Street, Bridge of Allan; 01786 833903

We ate here four times over a few days - it was SO very delicious! It is near Stirling, and is quite a gourmet find. It has a small market attached to it, where you can get fresh veggies, cheeses, etc.

4. Anstruther Fish Bar
42-44 Shore Street, Anstruther, Fife; 01333 310518

Very famous fish & chips place - there are huge lines to get in, but it is worth it! Dine harbor-front, inside or out. Lovely!

5. Barbara Lennox's breakfasts, at "The Herons B&B"
Allanfearn, Inverness; 7730 886489

This is a lovely, lovely bed and breakfast on the shores of the Inner Moray Firth. Her oatmeal is the best I've ever had. Barbara is so very kind - she has a lovely house right on the Firth, and is a fantastic cook.

6. Wee Curry Shop
23 Ashton Lane, Glasgow; 0141 357 5280
7 Buccleauch Street, Glasgow; 0141 353 0777

41 Byres Road, Glasgow; 014 133-9133

My son found this one on a trip to Scotland this past fall. He loves Indian food, and when he discovered this one, he went back twice. Unique restaurants, delicious and inexpensive food. He said, "it's the best Indian food I've ever had!"

7. Harbors all over Scotland

Buy cooked prawns from a harbor-side vendor, add crusty french bread, fresh butter, yummy Scottish Cheeses (perhaps from Clive Ramsay?), and some wine...you've got the best, freshest meal. Find a nice seaside spot - sit, slow down, and enjoy the beauty of Scotland.
