Foodie Finds: Dolphin Bar and Shrimp House on Florida's Treasure Coast
If you find yourself in Florida's Treasure Coast, plan to eat lunch or dinner at the Dolphin Bar and Shrimp House in Jensen Beach. This restaurant was once owned by film star Frances Langford, who was known for entertaining American soldiers during WWII.
Today it is a casual seafood place with a fabulous location on the water. You can dine in or out. There are plenty of fans outside, and the breeze from the ocean will keep you cool. On select nights, there's live entertainment.
The menu here is all about the seafood - dolphin, tuna, shrimp, scallops, lobster, salmon, tilapia. And they are all cooked in many different ways. There's a large menu of appetizers, soups, entrees and a great salad bar, with fresh, crisp veggies and delicious dressings. If someone in your party is not a seafood lover, there are choices of meat and The Early Bird (4:00 pm to 5:30 pm) menu offers a little bit of everything, and for $3.79 more you can add the salad bar to your entree. The only difference between the Early Bird and the regular menu are the portions and of course, the prices. We ordered off the Early Bird Menu and were so stuffed, we could not eat the dessert that was included with the meal. It was all delicious and the service was fantastic!
On your way out, stop in the Dolphin Shop. It's packed with colorful gifts, home goods and quality clothing.
