Teachers for Global Classrooms Program

IREX and the United States Department of State are pleased to announce the launch of the 2015 application cycle to the Teachers for Global Classrooms (TGC) Program.

TGC is a year-long professional development program that works with your teaching schedule to help you prepare students for the globalized world ahead. For the first time ever, IREX and the U.S. Department of State are pleased to offer TGC to American teachers at both the elementary and secondary level.

“TGC is an excellent program that broadened our horizons concerning global competencies while also providing practical, ‘in the trenches’ ideas and practices that will help schools of all resource levels implement a global competency approach.” -2012 TGC Alumnus

Applications are due March 18, 2015 at 11:59pm EST.

The program is fully funded by the U.S. Department of State and includes:

  •     An Online Course that helps you integrate global education into your curriculum
  •     A Global Education Symposium in Washington, DC with leaders in the international education community
  •     A two to three-week International Field Experience
  •     Alumni Grant Funding for projects in your classroom, school, and beyond
  •     Continuing Education Units

Teachers for Global Classrooms Program

TGC is a program of the United States Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is administered by IREX.
Eligible Applicants:

  •     Are full-time elementary or secondary teachers;
  •     Have five or more years of teaching experience;
  •     Have United States Citizenship;
  •     Reside in the United States during the course of the program.
