Retirement is great – you’re on your own clock, on your own schedule, with plenty of free time. Wait – what? What free time? Yes, retirement seems to be a code word for extra busy, since you now have time to pursue your passions.
In summertime, the highlands of Michigan’s Traverse City region are thick with cherry trees, their branches bowed down with bright red fruit. But when autumn arrives, everyone’s attention turns to a different crop.
When visiting San Antonio’s famed River Walk, you’re more likely to hear a Mariachi band than the lyrics to “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling.” But if you have the luck of the Irish, you’ll soon discover Durty Nelly’s.
The genuine Irish pub is tucked into a corner of the Hilton Palacio del Rio at river level. So while crossing the Market Street bridge, you just might hear the soulful sound of Danny Boy or the toe-tapping beat of a traditional Irish jig.
Get ready. This is, hands-down, the best biography I’ve ever read. It’s an intimate glance into history, medicine, change, and compassion. It’s the finely crafted life story of a man that we should know, but sadly, many of us don’t.
Even though I am a lifelong resident of the Midwest, I’m still stunned by the gorgeous fall color extravaganza that nature puts on. Each year, we plan several getaways to fully explore the fall colors in Michigan. The reflections of the oranges and reds on the calm, still lakes in Michigan are unsurpassed for the essence of fall beauty.
Now like you, I am prone to exaggerate sometimes.
