After a long day of exploring Ocracoke Island and scanning the gift shops, my family and I decided to head back to the campground we were staying at. As soon as we returned to our tent, I crawled inside and fell asleep. When I woke up, the sun glinting in my eyes, I could hear waves crashing instead of my parents talking.
It was a fun ride from Nsukka to Owerri on Friday. I saw lots of street vendors, roadside markets, and military checkpoints. Obi and I bought roasted corn, peanuts, and bananas for the trip. We were well stocked for the 3 hour journey.
School trips to foreign countries are a brilliant idea. Not only do they give the students a chance to try out the language that they are learning in a real life environment, but they also help to encourage a love of travelling, preventing a fear of places that you don’t know, while also allowing bonding between the students.
After my sophomore year in high school, I didn’t think I could handle another year of small-town life in Minnesota...spending time with the same people and going to the same places that I’ve been staying with my whole life. I don’t want to give an impression of hating my home, because I love Northfield! I simply needed a break.
When I "signed up" to come to China, I did it looking forward to a more enjoyable job, less hours, less responsibility, and a new adventure. I have not been disappointed. China has been all of things, but also so much more.

I had the opportunity to visit two primary schools today: one public and the other private. In both cases, I saw the libraries, though not the classrooms. My guide was Dr.
Every time I teach a class, I tell my students that I'm a learner, just like them. "Yes, I'm your teacher, but adults never stop learning. Part of my job is to teach you how to be a learner for the rest of your life."
Every once in a while, one of my students asks me to prove it.
The conference went very well. Titled “Global Literacy Learning Spaces, Strategies, and Opportunities in the Information Age,” the conference brought together educators from across Nigeria to discuss and share ideas about best practices in teaching and learning.
