Catching up at Great Wolf Lodge, Traverse City

You probably know by now how much we LOVE Great Wolf Lodge. It's so much fun to go there - a complete vacation, for our entire family. We recently visited the Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City, and had a blast (click here for rates and availability at Great Wolf Lodge Traverse City).

Our daughter, Lillie, wrote about her experiences at both Great Wolf Lodge and the Scoops Beauty Salon. What fun!

One of the things I love most about Great Wolf Lodge is how family-friendly they are. From little touches in the room design to the ever-attentive lifeguards, it all comes together to make the right vacation for families.

I sat down and talked with one of my VERY favorite people at GWL Traverse City, Jenn Gillner - the Ambassador of Fun! Isn't that the BEST job? Jenn filled me in on many of the events going on this summer at Great Wolf Lodge, as well as some upcoming events.

There is a morning wolf-walk, which teaches kids how to take trick pictures. Lilliel went on the wolf walk, and learned so much - check out what she did with the tricks she learned, when we were at Lake Michigan one night! Other Facebook activities include contests, promotions, and deals.

The Wolf Walk focuses on perspective and a different way of looking at things (and we also learned about different animals!).  There have also been scrapbooking classes, and other summer events.

Wiley and Violet (the GWL Mascots) are also out and about at GWL, and on the greatwolflodgekids.com website - it's a new website that introduces kids to the characters of Great Wolf Lodge. What a fun way to get the kids excited about a visit (well, like they need any more help?!).

Upcoming events at Great Wolf Lodge Traverse City include:

A Labor Day Luau. There will be a pig roast, Hawaiian buffet, cherry pit spit, pie eating contest, tacky tourist relay race (with great prizes!), sand art, a DJ and tropical music, and more. WHAT FUN!

The VERY cool Howl-o-ween events, including a Monster Mash and hallway decorations. Last year when we went, there were GWL employees in costume, handing out treats (including games) around the MagiQuest stations in the hallways.

For New Year's Eve, there will be another big bash, with an Old Hollywood Theme this year. Come in your glitziest - there will be family events (like a glow party!, karaoke room, Guitar Hero Room, bingo room, arts & crafts room, and more), as well as a family-friendly dance. If you come around December, you'll also see the beautiful Snow Land (and your kids can write a letter to Santa).

Other activities that are always on are:

MagiQuest - an interactive treasure hunt game. NO visit to Great Wolf Lodge is complete without playing Magiquest!

Cub Club - all kinds of activities for kids - some free, and some that you can pay for. We've done the tie-dying, the lotion creation. There is also sand art, painting, and all kinds of books and learning activities. AND, three fire-belly toads! Watch them eat (well, if you have a strong stomach)...

And of course, the Waterparks. In fair weather, the outdoor area has a great pool, a lovely waterfall, and a zero-entry kids area. Indoors, there are all the waterslides you could want, a lazy river, huge bucket dump, hot tubs, and more.

Something's always happening at Great Wolf Lodge. Maybe it is because they actually have an Ambassador of Fun. Maybe it is because it's a place where the whole family can have fun. Or maybe it's because Great Wolf Lodge is a place where family traditions are built.
