Joining the great migration in Tanzania, Africa is a great way to see wild animals in their natural habitat. If you visit the Serengeti in the early spring, you'll see thousands of wildebeests and zebras make their annual trek in search of food, birthing grounds, and water. Their predators follow these gentle animals, so you can also see lions, leopards, and hyenas. The birds follow the animals, so keep your eyes peeled for scavengers like vultures and smaller more rare birds, as well.

Galápagos Giant Tortoise

The Galapagos Islands are a group of islands that are 900 km off the coast of Ecuador. You may recognize them because Charles Darwin studied here for years and based his theory of evolution upon the wildlife and plants that he studied. There are many species of flora, fauna, and animals that don’t exist anywhere else in the world. The giant tortoise is one of these creatures, and you can visit with these gentle, slow-moving creatures that are over a century old.  You can also view marine iguanas that have gills and lungs. Be sure to stop in at the Charles Darwin Research Centre, where a team is continuing work on the legacy that he left behind.
