Love to eat breakfast out? We do, too. One city where breakfast really shines is New York City, which features almost too many unique restaurants. You only need to search for the best breakfast in NYC to find the greatest eateries in the city. Here are 12 terrific spots to get the best breakfast in NYC.

12 Terrific Spots to Get the Best Breakfast in NYC

Best Bagel & Coffee
The Best Bagel & Coffee house creates delicious breakfast sandwiches and bagels, as well as traditional breakfast platters. The restaurant features a variety of bagel sandwiches, with fillings ranging from salmon to cream cheese. The restaurant also offers cakes, muffins, and donuts.

Little Collins
Little Collins is a great place to start the day, and the breakfast there is quite affordable. There are two locations: 3rd Avenue and Lexington Ave. This cafe is an homage to Melbourne, Australia! Start with an espresso or a pourover, while you peruse the brekkie menu. I’m partial to the Big Dill, myself.

Johny’s Luncheonette
Johny’s Luncheonette offers a classic diner experience, with many morning choices such as eggs, pancakes, bacon, potatoes, toast, omelettes, wraps, and waffles. The prices are affordable, and the surroundings are casual and relaxed.

Liberty Bagels
A great breakfast spot for the busy New Yorker, Liberty Bagels offers simple bagels, eggs, and a coffee menu. It’s a popular breakfast spot for New Yorkers due to its location in Midtown (there’s also one in Jackson Heights).  Here, find freshly made bagels and pastries, as well as healthier selections. One look at their bagel sandwich menu, though, and all other menu items might go out the window.

Terravita
Terravita is the place to go if you are in the mood for something other than the same old fast-food breakfast. The entire menu is fresh, diverse, and delicious! I love the lemon and ricotta pancakes, myself. Load up on coffee drinks (there’s also tea) to get your day started.

Westville Chelsea
At one of Westville’s 7 locations, you’ll find a weekend brunch that will fill you up. They serve up classic American breakfasts and lunches and some innovative dishes that are not precisely what one would expect from a traditional breakfast spot. You will find pancakes, omelets, French toast, sandwiches, burgers, and salads on the menu. Everything that they have to offer is made fresh to order.

Baz Bagel and Restaurant
Tie Dye Rainbow Bagels? Count me in! Baz Bagel and Restaurant is a fantastic breakfast spot to go to get a great cup of coffee, hand-rolled bagels, and…latkes!!. The menu is clever, and breakfast is served ALL DAY.

Toasties
This family-owned classic NYC delicatessen (there are two locations) is known for its unique twist on classic American breakfast options, including its famous French toast sandwiches. Also, they offer a variety of omelets (including vegetarian and vegan options) and a range of pancake dishes, french toast, etc.

Mermaid Inn
This spot is known for its food and friendly atmosphere. Try the classic eggs benedict, greek yogurt pancakes, a farmer's market platter, and, of course, brunch cocktails (try the Mermaid Mary!). Brunch is available at the Mermaid Oyster Bar in Greenwich, as well as the Mermaid Inn on the Upper West Side.

Galaxy Diner
Galaxy Diner is not just any diner; it is one of the best breakfast spots in NYC…and is open 24/7. Whether you stop by for a quick breakfast while on the go or have time to sit down and enjoy your meal, you will find that Galaxy Diner offers excellent food and friendly service at an affordable price.

Mud spot
This is the stationery outpost of the famous coffee truck! Count me in. The NY Breakfast, featuring a bagel with cream cheese, alongside a coffee, is a bargain at $5. Other breakfast offerings include burritos, sandwiches, huevos rancheros, sourdough french toast, eggs, and more. The All Day Brunch (available on weekends, too) is a steal. Be sure to peruse the coffee menu: it's my favorite. Open every day.

Banter
With two locations, Banter NYC offers a variety of deliciousness with an Australian flair. Try eggs any style, the banter big breakfast, nutella-stuffed french toast, and more. The owners opened the place in 2016, with the goal of creating a sanctuary where people could enjoy great food and coffee, and some friendly banter. Find them in Greenwich Village and West Village.
