“Josh Recommends” for the Week of July 12, 2019 By Josh Garrick

Josh Garrick’s Art Featured in “Feeling Blessed – Part II” at the Faith Arts Village
July 17 beginning at 6 pm
We had so much fun – and had so many visitors – that my wonderful friend and Curator, Brad Biggs is giving me another special evening to show and sell my Art-work at FAVO – that unique destination for the Orlando Arts community. We heard from so many friends who were out-of-town on Opening Night, and people really did appreciate the low -- sell direct to the public affordable prices that we feel the evening of July 17 will give us a chance to see friends who missed the original or who want to come back and spend some quality time with the “art bargains.” FAVO is on Highland Ave. just off Colonial Drive next to Park Lake Presbyterian Church. Russian Ballet Orlando Presents Giselle
July 25 at 7 pm
Giselle is possibly the MOST Romantic of all the Classical, Romantic ballets. Our local Russian-trained Ballet Company presents this ballet – a true tour-de-force for the lead ballerina about a peasant girl named Giselle who dies of a broken heart after discovering her lover Albrecht is betrothed to another. The Willis, a group of supernatural women who dance men to death, summon Giselle from her grave. These ghost-like creatures then face the challenge of appearing to be floating on air. 10 years is a wonderful milestone – especially for a theatre company that has consistently delivered great performances of BIG shows on a jewel-box stage. Over the years, some examples of incredibly professional and moving performances have included “Cabaret” and a “Godspell” so wonderful I went back twice. Founder and Director Wade Hair invites the community to join their celebration including a fully catered dinner, door-prizes, an Awards Ceremony and musical performances from Best Musical nominees. The event is co-hosted by Wade, Iris Johnson and Jamaal Solomon at Trinity Prep at 5700 Trinity Prep Lane in Winter Park. CFCArts presents “Bye-Bye Birdie”
NOW to July 28
What could be more “American” than a story from the 1960’s about a hip-swaying rock-star drafted to the US Army? Women love him, teens scream at the sound of his name, and in this tuneful happily-ever-after musical (that made Ann-Margret a star) the famous Rock Star is sent to a small town in Ohio to say goodbye on live TV by planting a kiss on his biggest fan. This show is hilarious, upbeat and rapturously tuneful – “be there or be square” by visiting cfcarts.com or calling 407.937.1800 for tickets. “Bye Bye Birdie” by CFCArts
