Have kids who love art? We do, and we're always scoping out art experiences for her when we travel - from art museums to galleries to classes. We can't get enough - and often schedule our travel plans around art events and classes.

When we were in St. John's, Newfoundland last summer, I was extremely impressed when I visited the Anna Templeton Centre for Craft, Art, and Design. We've got more goodness coming up about the Templeton Centre, but I'd like to draw your attention to classes and camps for both adults and kids. This is an incredible centre that explores the arts with talent and education throughout the city and province.

For summer, there are morning camps, afternoon camps, and full day camps. There are camps that run for an entire week, and some that run for a few days. What you choose will, of course, be influenced by your travel plans (and vice versa).

The camps include arts and crafts, drama, drawing and painting, stories, puppets, and books, and textiles and sewing. You can find cartooning, masks, art stars, paper and book making, funky accessories, earth-inspired projects, and more - for all ages. Perhaps you'll find a class, while your kids take some, too.

The faculty members are impressive, the class fees are very reasonable, and this is a great way to engage your artistic child, while learning about a place, art, and making new local friends. The centre is located in an historic building right in downtown St. John's. LOVE!!
