Join the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party, the State of Mississippi, and the Southern Foodways Alliance on June 11 for POTLIKKER FILM FEST NYC, hosted by Hill Country Barbecue Market. Watch Joe York's latest film. Sip Lazy Magnolia. Listen to intriguing tunes from One Ring Zero's Michael Hearst. Enjoy bites from John Currence, Ashley Christensen, Tyler Brown, and Elizabeth Karmel. Exploring the Global South along the Buford Highway International Corridor
Travel the Buford Highway International Corridor. With expert Southern Foodways Sherpas in the lead, we’ll explore the strip malls and reconfigured fast food bunkers where intrepid eaters feast on some of the region’s best (Chinese) barbecue, and (Salvadoran) fried chicken. We'll eat a deep South dim sum lunch at Abattoir. And explore Mexican cookery with Eddie Hernandez of Taqueria del Sol.

     Beans + Rice: A Culinary and Cultural Odyssey

     The Historic New Orleans Collection's Williams Research Center

At the day-long forum presented by The Historic New Orleans Collection and the Ray Charles Program at Dillard University, a distinguished panel of speakers – including Dr. Jessica Harris, an SFA Founder and past Board member; Dr. Judith Carney; "Hoppin'" John Taylor; and Dr. Maricel Presilla – will discuss the ingredients, processing, multi-cultural connections and consumption of beans and rice.

              Zingerman's Camp Bacon
              June 17-20

Camp Bacon is a long weekend with some of the biggest names in bacon, diving into exploration of the bacon's past, present, and future. Highlights include: bacon tasting with Zingerman's co-founder Ari Weinzweig, bacon curing demos with Allan Benton and Nick Spencer, pancetta-making class with Herb Eckhouse from La Quercia, bacon cooking demo with James Beard Award-winning cookbook author and chef Molly Stevens, and a concert with R&B legend Andre Williams.
