The Lake District is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful UK travel destinations, with its sparkling lakes, rugged mountains, and vast expanses of lush greenery making it the ideal natural retreat. With some 15 million visitors a year, protecting and sustaining the region is crucial, and something that local organizations are truly committed to.

I am a great admirer of the author Robert Caro, the pre-eminent authority on Lyndon Johnson, for his command of detail and the thoroughness of his research. In my view, Sarah Byrn Rickman is drawn from the same gene pool, for her definitive work on the WASP during WWII, entitled WASP of the Ferry Command: Women Pilots, Uncommon Deeds.
Green. Cloudy. Ancient.
For me, those 3 adjectives describe rural Ireland and its history. With hidden beaches, impossibly green hills, and plenty of castles, Ireland is definitely one of my favorite travel destinations.
Last Christmas, my family and I explored Ireland. Even though we stayed in the cities of Dublin and Cork, we did a lot sightseeing on the coast and in rural areas, enjoying pub food and fish and chips in between each destination.
