Join the Eat Smart culinary team in getting to the heart of Indonesian culture through an exploration of her tantalizing cuisine. Sample the infinite variety of regional Indonesian specialties in their natural setting. Delve into the secrets of Indonesian dishes by participating in a cooking class. Also included will be talks on culinary topics and visits to bustling markets to learn about the herbs, spices and condiments that are prevalent in Indonesian cookery. We will also see the major tourist sights, yet still have time to shop and relax along the way.
Travel can be glorious, life-changing, intruiging, fun, insightful, but also oh so stressful. For not only are you dealing with a different environment, but also transportation, finding food in a new place when you're hungry (a stressful time for me, at least!), and possibly a different language.

TONITE – Feb 8 at 8 pm – An Evening with 2Cellos
The 2 young Croatian heart-throb cellists, Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser, known as 2CELLOS, have achieved international success by taking the cello to a new level with their incredible talent and passion. They have broken down the boundaries between classical and film music to pop and rock, and are equally impressive whether playing Bach and Vivaldi or ‘rocking out’ to AC/DC and Iron Maiden. Europe is blessed with such stunning natural landscapes and wonderful cities, that it’s impossible to travel and explore this vast continent in one go. The usual, bucket list European destinations like London, Paris and Rome are still popular, but are always getting jam-packed with tourists.

My best advice for students who are going abroad:
(1) Secure your finances.
(2) Secure your finances.
(3) Know how to call the emergency number wherever you are.

When we were in Milwaukee last weekend visiting family, food was never far from our minds. This could be because we are food people, or because Milwaukee has more great food than you can imagine, or a lovely confluence of the two. We were “researching” an article on great eating in Milwaukee for i8tonite.com - my Cheat Sheet to Eating in Milwaukee, and had great difficulty narrowing down the recommendations.
Fasten your seatbelts! This summer, we took an Epic Canadian Road Trip, driving from our home in Kalamazoo, Michigan all the way out to St. John’s, Newfoundland (yes, a ferry was involved). Why? Well, I’m the co-founder of Writing Walking Women, and we chose St. John’s as the site of our conference this year – MUCH more on that to come!
