If you ever find yourself in Florida, there is one place that you should definitely visit. The Florida Keys Wild Bird Center is an organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and releases birds in the wild that struggle to survive, or are ill or injured. They take care of them until they are ready to be released once again in the wild. Due to a great amount of birds, those birds that can walk are able to do so around the sanctuary. You should wear comfortable sneakers even though the weather may most likely be hot.

In the center, there is also an interactive time where children are allowed to feed frozen fish to a flock of birds. Before doing this activity you should be aware that the fish do have an unattractive smell and that the birds may get quite aggressive when wanting the fish. All in all the experience of feeding the fish is very rare and most of the time is a very special opportunity that should not be passed up. To conclude, the center is a great program with much to offer to the forever changing wildlife that is the Florida Keys and not to mention an exceptional experience.

P.S. Don’t forget to speak with the parrots at the entrance, even though you may not hear (or see) them. To say the least, they both are two unique individuals with great personalities.
