The question that I always receive is where I made enough wealth to travel as much as I do. This question always greatly amuses me because there is this stereotype that one needs to have wealth in order to travel. What many people miss is that there are ways to travel all over the world without spending a great deal of money. Additionally, while traveling, there is also a way to have several high quality vacations per year - even when you do have kids - without spending a significant amount of money either.

How to Be Able to Travel Each Year Without a Huge Salary and Several Mouths to Feed

The key to this is that you have to do your research and also have to understand that you may not be in the most exclusive resorts in the world; however, you will still be able to stay in a wonderful hotel and have a rewarding travel experience. Consider this list of how to travel each year without spending an exorbitant amount of money:

1.    Travel Bundles: Travel Bundles are your friend and many sites such as Expedia do have them. These deals allow you to book flights, lodging, and sometimes even food in an all inclusive bundle of excellence. What makes these deals so great is that you sometimes can save up to $2,000 on your hotel by reserving a hotel this way. Additionally, if you find out that you are able to go on a trip at the last minute, this can also be a great way for you to save because hotels are trying to fill their empty rooms rather than go several nights without revenue.

2.    Budget Airlines: A common well kept secret to my travels is the budget airlines. For example, if you are traveling a short distance on a specific continent, budget airlines are the way to go. You will save hundreds of dollars per ticket and can take your children with you for the cost of one plane ticket on a major airline usually. Just pack light and enjoy double the amount of trips in one year for shorter getaways close to you. This is a sensational option particularly if you are in Europe or Asia.

3.    Fly Coach Extended: Each airline has their own title for this; however, a great way to save a lot of money when traveling is to downgrade from first class or business. While these ways to travel are lovely, many airlines have added a Coach Extended or Deluxe option that provides an increased amount of leg room. One can typically upgrade to this for less than $100 and it is an ideal investment for the longer trips. Thus, consider investing in this instead of spending thousands extra on a first class or business class ticket.

4.    Stay in Boutique Hotels: This is another way to save a lot when traveling. Boutique hotels range in quality in price; however, they are usually less money than major hotel chains. Thus, try to avoid the major hotel chains and this will allow you to not only have a more authentic experience, but it will also save you a great deal of money in the process.

5.    Use Rewards Programs: There are so many loyalty hotel points, free hotel room nights, and airline miles to use to your advantage. An example of this is that Hotels.com gives you every tenth night free for hotel stays. Thus, use this and save a great deal of money on your lodging. By being creative about this, you will be amazed at how much you save.

6.    Don’t forget the money exchange costs: The cost of exchanging money from local currency can be quite costly, and make a huge difference in spending. If you are travelling for a short period of time consider using prepaid currency cards, and if you are planning a long stay consider currency transfer companies (only for bank to bank transfers). Recommended companies include World First and TTT Moneycorp.

It is important to remember that traveling does not have to be expensive. The way to take many trips per year is to travel economically. That being said, traveling economically does not mean that you have to necessarily stay in hostels, but you do have to cut corners where you can. There are so many wonderful options now to travel at all price points.

The key is to research well before your upcoming trip in order to have a grasp at where you can potentially save money. By doing this, you will absolutely be able to travel double the amount per year and see a great deal more of the world.
