Foodie Finds: José’s Burritos in Sunset, Utah

I’m a picky eater, but I’m cheap. That’s why I am the ideal person to write a Foodie Find article: I can find you economical, over-the-top tasty, nutritious food in a hurry.

José’s Burritos, just off I-15 in Sunset, Utah, is on the top of my list of places to recommend. I went to José’s Burritos for the first time on a freezing cold December evening. It is a tiny little place just off the freeway, and I feared I’d miss it. “Heck,” as we say here in Utah, was I ever wrong! The place shines!

Apart from the whole purple building experience, the food is fantastic, too. José is a top-notch entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in the food industry, and let’s just say the guy knows what he’s doing. At José’s burritos, this experience is condensed into one little building, and the result is amazing food, fast, at the right price. I tried taking a picture of the menu, but it was too big. Here’s part of it.

Here’s a picture of what is by far the most popular item, the #8, otherwise known as the Mexican Burrito with rice and beans. José’s wife, Leonor, who also has countless years of experience making delicious food, taught me how to make this one. I took lots and lots of pictures, trying to memorize her every move so as to possibly duplicate this one at home! Don’t worry, Leonor --- I can’t do it! Here is a photo of the end result of Leonor’s world-famous Mexican Burrito:

Leonor also showed me how much the burritos weigh. Every burrito served at José’s burritos weighs over one pound! Can you believe it?!!! (Suggestion: you can ask for your burrito to be cut in half).

So come by. José and Leonor tell me you are welcome there. When you go there, order whatever you want, because every single item on the menu is spectacular, made fresh and with a lot of tender-loving care. And tell them Debbie sent you.
