Becca Leigh La Creta loved studying abroad so much that she made it her career. She started in the Dominican Republic, continued her journey through Paris, and then moved to Korea to teach English before pursuing her master’s in international education. Her biggest regret?

Dr. Jessie Voigts's picture

We're back with our favorite Ghostbuster, Anthony Snyder (read our Artist feature on him!). From early interests in Tales from the Crypt, Sam Raimi movies, dark humor, and pop culture with a nerdy twist, he's expanded into a creative, interesting, detailed cosplayer. Whether he's a Ghostbuster (raising money for charity) or Ash from the Evil Dead, Anthony is having fun - with the creativity, people, and events.

My Active, Uncooperative, Seldom-at-Home Cancer Patient and What I Learned from Him

One day in 2008, I got a call from my older sister, telling me that our father had been diagnosed with stomach cancer and the doctor had given him three months to live. I was living in Minnesota at the time, far away from Ogden, Utah.

I quickly arranged to go back home.

I headed out to “take care” of Dad for a while.

I moved back home, back into the old house he raised us in, and I learned once again how strong and determined he was.

But, as you may have guessed from the title, I absolutely loved the literary cosplays people chose.

Lexa Pennington's picture

It’s not hard to see why so many people are attracted to the idea of cruises: they’re a great way to see multiple new parts of the world while enjoying fine food and luxury accommodation. One thing that often turns many people off of booking a cruise is the idea that cruise ships are inherently large, impersonal environments full of crowds, constant activity and noise.

Asako Maruoka's picture

Are you heading off for a stint studying abroad and wondering how you’ll find it? Having some nerves isn’t unusual. Moving to a new place is always going to be stressful: there might be distinct cultural differences you need to navigate, a different language to grapple with, or just new surroundings to settle into. The best thing to do is try to channel those feelings into making sure you make the most out of your opportunity.
