From free gas to free dinners, plus discounts, gifts and spa treatments, B&Bs worldwide entice travelers with reasons to choose bed and breakfasts this year

For the sixth year in a row, BedandBreakfast.com's members are rewarding value-conscious B&B travelers with offers to fuel spring and summer vacations.  Dubbed “Tanks for Traveling”, BedandBreakfast.com members are putting money where guests need it most -- into their gas tanks, their stomachs, and back into their wallets. Knowing that travelers are increasingly interested in traveling green and saving some too, BedandBreakfast.com members have crafted a number of creative offers to reward guests and say "Tank You" for traveling.

B&Bs in nearly 40 states, the Caribbean, Canada, Italy, France, and Croatia have created more than 150 money-saving deals for inngoers. For a complete list of participating inns, go to www.BedandBreakfast.com and click the fuel gauge graphic in the center of the screen. To get these great offers, be sure to mention the BedandBreakfast.com Tanks for Traveling promotion. Offers can not be applied to preexisting reservations nor combined with any other promotion, and may not be available during holiday periods.

In addition to more than 150 “Tanks for Traveling” offers, book a four-night European getaway through March, and receive a $100 discount on your BedandBreakfast.com online reservation. In April, book a three-night Canadian getaway on BedandBreakfast.com, and enjoy a $50 discount. Simply type in your destination and travel dates, then look for the green “Book It” button. Use promo code EUROPE100 or CANADA50 to receive the applicable credit on your reservation. With the “Tanks for Traveling” promotion and online booking discounts, BedandBreakfast.com offers ample opportunities to save on B&B vacations.

Here are a few examples of “Tanks for Traveling” promotions, listed alphabetically by state:

White River Inn, Cotter, AR: Stay four nights through May 31, 2009, and to offset fuel costs, $50 will be deducted from your bill if you live 250 miles or closer; $75 will come off your bill if you live further than 250 miles. Book a guided fishing trip in this trout fishing paradise, and hook an additional $25 in savings. You may just need a "tank" to haul your catch home.

Vine Street Inn, Paso Robles, CA: Support the "Greening Of America" by utilizing ground public transportation. A $100 Vine Street Inn gift certificate will be given to any guest who arrives at the Paso Robles Train Station via train or bus; station pick up is included. Don’t worry, foot power is all you need to get to wine bars, restaurants and shops from the inn. Offer valid through March 31, 2010.

Tudor Rose B&B and Chalets, Salida, CO: Stay in one of the new chalets for two nights in April 2009, and get the third night for just $1.

Sabal Palm House, Lake Worth, FL: Stay two nights in selected rooms between May 1 and September 30, 2009, and receive a third night free when you bring a bag of non-perishable food items or personal care products for the local food pantry. Mention "Food for Room" when making reservations.

Aska Lodge, Blue Ridge, GA: The economy is going to the birds; why don't you? You'll be "tankful you traveled" to the mountains of North Georgia to take advantage of this B&B's birding special. Stay two nights Sunday-Thursday now through June 26, and receive a $20 lodging credit, a Georgia Birds Pocket Naturalist Guide, and a birdhouse to take home. Depending on your timing, look for thrashers, goldfinches, indigo buntings, ruby-breasted grosbeaks, red-shouldered hawks, hummingbirds and more.

Beall Mansion, Alton, IL: Stay two or more consecutive nights now through September 30, 2009, and receive a $50 QuikTrip® gift card at check-in when you mention “Tanks for Traveling!” at booking (if booking online type “Free Gas” in the “special instructions or requests” box).

Inn at the Oaks, Eastham, MA: Stay three nights through May 22 and receive a $75 BedandBreakfast.com Gift Card, welcomed at more than 4,000 B&Bs in the U.S. and Canada. Enjoy it yourself or give it to Mom as a Mother’s Day gift; it never expires and there are no blackout dates.

High Haven House B&B Inn, Vineyard Haven, MA: Through October 31, 2009, book four nights in one of the one- or two-bedroom efficiency apartment/suites and you’ll be treated to a 15 percent Tanks for Travelin’ discount; stay five nights and get a 20 percent discount. In addition, AAA members traveling from within New England will receive a $75 gas card; those traveling from New York and beyond will be treated to a $150 gas card with four-night stays. Enjoy the pool, hot tub, exercise room; free use of bikes and private off-street parking.

Blue Door on Baltimore, Baltimore, MD: This B&B will add a little "green" to your getaway with a $30 discount on a three-night stay when you leave your car at the B&B and use the water taxi to visit Baltimore’s sights. Offer valid April through October 2009, on phone reservations only. Nearby Scarborough Fair B&B offers guests staying three nights through July 1 a $25 gift card for dinner at Ryleigh's Oyster Bar & Restaurant and an exclusive shopping pass for many of the boutiques in one of Baltimore’s best shopping districts. Enter the promo code GREATVALUE when making reservations online.

The Kingsley House, Fennville, MI: You do everything possible to improve your vehicle’s fuel efficiency, so why not take care of your personal engine too? Treat yourself to a complimentary “Tune-Up” to improve your personal miles-per-gallon. From April 11 through June 30, 2009, stay two nights or more in a luxurious suite and receive two one-hour in-house massages free of charge (a $150 value).

Classic Rosewood, a Thorwood Inn, Hastings, MN: Book two nights in an ultimate suite on a weekend, or three nights midweek, and earn a $500 gas certificate – that’s right, it’s not a typo. The nights do not have to be consecutive, so you may stay one night and reserve others in the future. Spend $500 at the inn before July 31, 2009, and get a gas certificate worth $500.  Register the certificate at one of 14 gasoline companies; each time you spend $100 for gas, get a $25 rebate to a $500 max. That means gas rebates for years after your stay.

Garth Woodside Mansion, Hannibal, MO: To “tank” guests for traveling, this inn is giving guests dinner on the house (or mansion, rather). Through September 30, breakfast and dinner are included in the room cost. Save on gas by staying “inn” for dinner.

William Seward Inn, Westfield, NY: Bicycle-riding guests who stay two nights will enjoy a complimentary gourmet cheese and fruit picnic for two including a bottle of house wine ($49 value). Ride the Lake Erie, Lake Chautauqua shoreline or Rails-to-Trails route, then enjoy a picnic lunch on the house to say “tanks” for traveling by bike. Please mention this special when making your two-night reservation through June 30, 2009.

The Craftsman B&B, Pacific City, OR: Gas doesn’t cost $4 per gallon this year, but times are still tough. To help offset trip costs, receive a $25 discount on a two-night Sunday through Thursday stay booked online on this inn’s website. In addition, arrive on a weekend, and green gets green here, with a 10 percent discount if you arrive on two wheels, via public transportation, or in a hybrid or biofuel car. Valid from April 6 through June 25, 2009. Not valid on gift certificate orders.

Berry Springs Lodge, Sevierville, TN: Now through the end of the year, take advantage of the "Back to Nature" discount. Stay two nights and save $40 per night midweek and $20 per night on weekends when you bring a natural treasure. To qualify, bring a plant or sapling to plant, a rock for a Zen garden or a leaf for a scrapbook. Similarly, take advantage of nearby Iron Mountain Inn’s “Leave Your Car Parked” package for $399 per person.

Historic 1859 Woldert-Spence Manor, Tyler, TX: Can’t travel overseas? This year let your taste buds do the traveling! Stay two nights through August 31, 2009, and receive a $25 gift card to a local restaurant -- choose from Mediterranean, Mexican, or California cuisine with a Texas flair. Stay a third night and get another $25 gift card!

Black Bear Inn, Bolton Valley, VT: Guests staying three or more nights through September 24, 2009, will receive a $100 gasoline gift card upon checkout. Bring bikes and enjoy Vermont’s countryside via pedal power.

Harmony Hill B&B, Lovingston, VA: Reserve two nights Monday through Thursday and receive a voucher for one additional night free. Use the voucher yourself, or give it as a gift. The voucher may be used to add another night to a current stay or toward a future stay thorough December 31, 2009.

Boreas B&B, Long Beach, WA: From now until July 2, 2009, to say "Tanks for Traveling”, book two nights here and receive a $50 gift certificate for dinner at the 42nd Street Cafe, a favorite local restaurant. Stay three nights and you’ll also save $50 on your room.

Earth Rider Boutique Hotel, Brodhead, WI: Burn calories, not oil, and fill your "tank" with sustainable fuel! Take public transportation and/or bike to this cycling-themed B&B and bike shop, stay two weekend nights and receive a $40 dinner gift certificate to "refuel" at a local restaurant plus one-hour massages to "tune-up" your engine.
