If you’re considering a visit to Stonehenge, I advise that you do so after putting a few things into consideration.

The Magic and Mystery of Stonehenge

Here are 5 things to know about visiting Stonehenge:

It’s popular!

Stonehenge is a massively popular place to visit, with approximately 800,000 visitors per year from all over the world.

Access is different than you think

With the huge visitor center placed 1.5 miles away from the attraction itself, you will either take a bus from the center to your destination or walk along the side of the road.

Does it matter when you go?

With Stonehenge being such a big bucket list item for so many, this means that no matter what time of year you pay a visit, you are likely to be accompanied by other tourists; in my opinion, this also means that it is probably worth the visit.

It’s a mystery...

The overall experience is fascinating and rewarding because it makes you wonder just how these rocks got here, who put them here, and why? The wonder and curiosity is the best part of the visit; it makes you feel like you are a part of something big, trying to solve a mystery that dates so far back into time.

Don’t skip the visitor center

Another great thing about going to Stonehenge is the visitor center itself. It boasts a large museum onsite featuring recreations of how the people who built Stonehenge might have lived, a 360° room with the view from the center of the stones, and artifacts from the age that Stonehenge was constructed, discovered in an excavation from 2005.

Stonehenge feels similar to places like Easter Island, Chile, and Angkor Wat, Cambodia, in the sense that you are going back in time. Take a stroll through history by paying a visit to Stonehenge.
