I’m constantly amazed at the incredible things you can explore in the United States.  We’ve been participating in United Sharing Adventure, at hostelbookers.com, where everyone – including you! – can share tips and photos of your favorite places around the US.  Please head there and post photos and travel tips to share with others curious about exploring our great country. Poke around and see if you can find mine - my goal is to share a tip a day. When experienced travelers pool their knowledge, a great travel resource is created!

Exploring the USA, One Tip at a Time

Wandering Educators (along with 49 other travel bloggers) was asked to share an iconic photo of their state. You know me - it's all about Lake Michigan. My photo represents the state of Michigan, known as the “Land of the Inland Seas,” as it borders four of the five Great Lakes and holds over 60,000 inland lakes and ponds! Since fifty percent of Michigan is still remote and heavily forested, it draws fishermen, hunters and campers year-round to challenge their outdoor skills while photographers track down the over 200 picturesque lighthouses.

Here on Wandering Educators, you can find all kinds of Michigan travel tips. Explore the beaches of the Sunset Coast. Try our favorite hot dogs at One Stop Coney Shop (Grand Rapids) and at House of Doggs (Traverse City).  Tour Michigan’s breweries to sample imaginative craft beers like Dragon’s Milk and Mad Hatter. Climb Sleeping Bear Dunes, named the most beautiful place in the US!

Weird science buffs delight in the bizarre health-fad contraptions at the Kellogg Rejuvenators in Battle Creek (cereal capital of the world). Stop in Chelsea to grabe a bite to eat at Back to the Roots, and check out the homebase of Jiffy Mix - be sure to schedule a tour. Kalamazoo’s Art Deco downtown attracts antique shoppers, but we really love the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts.

Visit Thomas Edison’s Depot Museum in Port Huron (a town where you can also eat well), or peruse the world-class art at Meijer Gardens. If you head north, be sure to stop and learn some history in Mackinaw City or Mackinac Island.

But we’ve also got photos representing two other states in the United Sharing Adventures – Oregon (Thanks to our Pacific Northwest Editor, Ben Voigts), and New England  (thanks to one of the students in our Youth Travel Blogging Mentorship Program).

I know our readers are full of great travel tips for the US (and the world) - I see them every day in articles on our site, on facebook, and on twitter.

The question is: which travel tip will you share first?

Let me know what travel tips you've shared on United Sharing Adventure. You never know what journeys your words will inspire...
